Sunday 9th June, 2019 : Be reconciled to God
A simple definition of reconciliation is the ending of conflict or renewing of friendly relationship between two people or groups who have been in dispute. For the purpose of our text the two parties are God and man. Why do we need to be reconciled to God?
The cordial relationship between God and man after creation was broken down when man transgressed the divine command. The resultant effect was guilt and alienation which must be removed if fellowship is to be restored.
God in his persistent grace sets aside the cause of alienation, makes provision for forgiveness of the offence, wins the love of those who have broken the relationship, and enables sinners who were at odds with Him to become at one with Him again. If you have not been reconciled to God, todays worship is your day of reconciliation.
